Andres Galarraga Juego Perfecto Robado |
By Jason Beck MLB.com 06/02/10 8:54 PM ET at DETROIT @beisbol - With just one out to go, Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga lost his perfect-game bid on a disputed infield hit by the Indians' Jason Donald.
After Galarraga retired the first 26 hitters, Donald squibbed a grounder to first baseman Miguel Cabrera, who threw to the pitcher to complete the out. But first base umpire Jim Joyce called Donald safe.
Galarraga retired Trever Crowe on a grounder to third to finish off the 3-0 win and one-hitter.
Galarraga would have joined Oakland's Dallas Braden and Philadelphia's Roy Halladay to throw a perfect game this year -- and it would have become the first time that three perfect games have come in the same season.
Detroit centerfielder Austin Jackson makes a 9th inning Willie Mays over the shoulder catch.
What will Major League Baseball front office do with instant repllay.
Perhaps, this will be the 1st ever "28 out Perfect Game" on Major League Baseball history. @beisbol
