LATINO SPORTS TO UNVEIL 7th ANNUAL “21 DAYS OF CLEMENTE” EXHIBIT DURING MONTH OF DECEMBER AT THE LATINO SPORTS CLUBHOUSE IN THE BRONX.  Tarjetas de Beisbol de Roberto Clemente By LSV Wire -Bronx, NY: Beginning Monday, December 10, 2007, Latino Sports Ventures, Inc. will unveil its 7th annual “21 Days of Clemente” exhibit of photos and memorabilia honoring Roberto Clemente, the great baseball player and humanitarian who died tragically in a plane crash delivering emergency relief to Nicaragua in 1972.The 21 day exhibit, which includes guest speakers throughout the month of December, will be on display at the Latino Sports Clubhouse, 424 Grand Concourse, in the Bronx until December 31st (the day that the accident occurred). Among the scheduled guest speakers are Raul Colón, illustrator of the book, “Roberto Clemente, Pride of the Pirates,” who will visit the store on Tuesday evening, December 11th. Paul Kutch, owner of Clemente’s Clubhouse, and the most notable collector of Roberto Clemente in the world, will be the guest speaker on Monday, December 17th. Ray Negrón, author of the book “The Boy of Steel” and the upcoming book, “The Greatest Story Never Told”: The Babe and Jackie, which features Roberto Clemente, will speak on Monday, December 24th.
Among the scheduled guest speakers are Raul Colón, illustrator of the book, “Roberto Clemente, Pride of the Pirates,” Roberto Clemente lost his life delivering relief supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua on December 31st, 1972. “Many people remember Clemente as a great baseball player and the first Latino in the Hall of Fame. However, Clemente represents a lot more to the Latino community and we want to make sure that our youth understand that Clemente means more than baseball,” stated Julio Pabón, CEO of Latino Sports Ventures, Inc. This community exhibit has become an annual pilgrimage for many Clemente collectors and enthusiasts who have traveled from as far as Delaware to attend. In addition, a number of schools have been invited to submit artistic renditions of Clemente made by the students. Every student that participates will receive a certificate of recognition from Congressman José Serrano’s office and many will receive prizes from the NY Yankees and Spalding.
