Hall of Famer Robin Roberts
Hall of Famer Robin Roberts, one of the most durable and talented right-handed pitchers of the 1950s and 1960s, will share stories and memories in an Oct. 11 version of the Baseball Hall of Fame's Voices of the Game series.

Roberts, who was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1976, won 286 games and had six consecutive 20-win seasons using a superior fastball and pinpoint control. He pitched for 19 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs. He was selected to seven All-Star teams and led the National League in victories four times.

"You play ball and never anticipate anything like this," Roberts said. "Then when you are done, they look at the figures and announce that you have been chosen [for the Hall of Fame]. It is a thrill to know that you belong there."

Roberts is serving as the Hall of Fame's 2008 membership spokesman, and the Voices of the Game event will be held in the Hall of Fame's Grandstand Theater. A ticket is required for this event and costs $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Members may reserve tickets immediately, and any remaining tickets will be made available to non-members starting Oct. 6 by calling the Membership Department at 607-547-0397.
