Census data indicates that Hispanic population has grown faster than overall U.S. population since 1990.  In 2006, Hispanics became the largest U.S. ethnic group with a population of 45 million, making up 15 percent of the total U.S. population. By the year 2020 the Hispanic population is projected to reach 53 million. Hispanics are expected to spend over $900 billion as a consumer group next year and this buying power is projected to surpass the $1 trillion mark by the year 2010.
 
ESPN Deportes Winter League Baseball
As the 2008 Major League Baseball season comes to an end, ESPN Deportes will present the most extensive coverage of winter baseball from the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Mexico. ESPN Deportes will televise more than 60 winter league baseball games, including each league's championship series.  In addition to its extensive coverage of each league, ESPN Deportes will for the first time air Beisbol Esta Noche every Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
 
Rich Goose Gossage 2008 Baseball Hall of Fame
Rich "Goose" Gossage, who tormented batters as one of the game's most intimidating relief pitchers over a 22-season career, was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers' Association of America in balloting verified by Ernst & Young. He will be inducted into the Hall July 27 at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Cooperstown, New York - Ten former Major League players, whose careers began in 1942 or earlier, will be considered for election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009 by the Veterans Committee, with results of a Dec. 7 vote to be announced Dec. 8 at baseball's Winter Meetings, it was announced today.

History is being written this week in baseball's postseason, but several historic artifacts from the 2008 Major League Baseball season are already on display at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will open an exhibit dedicated to the 2008 World Series and the Philadelphia Phillies' second World Championship in mid-November in Cooperstown, N.Y. The exhibit will feature a number of treasures donated by members of the Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays to represent the 104th Fall Classic.

Fox Sports en Espanol Caribbean World Series Television
Fox Sports en Espanol Caribbean World Series TelevisionFox Sports en Espanol has once again acquired the exclusive U.S. Spanish-language television rights to the 58th Caribbean World Series of baseball. Taking place in Carolina, Puerto Rico, the four-team, six-day tournament will be televised for the ninth consecutive year on Fox Sports en Espanol, beginning Friday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT with a match-up between Venezuela and the Dominican Republic; Mexico takes on host Puerto Rico later that day at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.

The Caribbean World Series, first held in 1949 in Havana, Cuba, will be played this year at Roberto Clemente Walker Stadium in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The champions of the Dominican, Puerto Rican, Venezuelan and Mexican winter leagues will compete in an exciting 12-game round-robin series that will decide the new Caribbean champion.
